Citation policy
Academic integrity:
Academic integrity refers to those high academic standards and values that include responsibility, honesty, ethics, and respect for the work of other researchers and the studies cited in the research. Both researchers and the journal's editorial board must uphold these values to ensure the continuity and quality of research publication.
Transparent signaling to others :
Researchers must ensure transparent attribution to those who contributed to their research. Furthermore, they must cite materials and tools used in other sources, particularly those cited in the research and the authors' previous studies . Therefore, researchers should use direct quotations for texts taken directly from various sources, adhering to the exact wording, as well as for texts that have been summarized or paraphrased. Any modifications to the quotations should also be indicated within brackets.
The researcher's responsibility regarding self-citation:
Excessive self-citation of a researcher's own previous work must be declared, and the journal must recognize the importance of rejecting the overuse of this type of citation. Experts and the editorial board should accept only relevant instances of direct self-citation and reject those that inflate the citation matrix of the researcher or the journal itself.
Direct use of sources:
Authors are responsible for the direct use of sources by quoting only those sources that have actually been used and cited, and rejecting cases where lists are made up for sources that have not been cited .

Avoid preferential quotations:
Authors should avoid quoting themselves. The same procedure applies to collaborators, team members, and members of the same institution or university. Researchers are required to provide adequate and appropriate justification for such quotations.
Exclude non-academic sources
Examples of material that is not suitable for our magazine include commercial advertisements, promotional content, and sponsored content.
Compliance with the Committee on Publication Ethics ( COPE ) guidelines:
According to the standards and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics ( COPE ), citation practices must be free from manipulation and bias. Editorial boards must prohibit any actions that aim to inflate or influence the citation matrix.
Ethical conduct in citing:
Authors bear full responsibility for manipulating citation patterns to inflate citation metrics or influence editorial decisions. Such behavior directly impacts the transparency and integrity of both the author's academic record and the journal's reputation. Therefore, our journal reserves the full legal right to withdraw any submitted paper or impose sanctions that may prevent the author from publishing future research.
Plagiarism policy
All research under review or published in the Iraqi Journal of Economic Sciences is checked using Turnitin software to prevent plagiarism. Plagiarism is a serious violation of publication ethics. Other violations include duplicate publication, data falsification, and failure to properly cite authors. Therefore, deliberately plagiarizing, fraud, or providing inaccurate data constitutes unethical and unacceptable conduct. Submitting the same research to more than one journal simultaneously is also unethical and unacceptable. It should be noted that the Iraqi Journal of Economic Sciences may disregard any duplicate research with a similarity index of 20% or higher, including the use of artificial intelligence. It is the responsibility of the author(s) to ensure that the similarity index remains below 20% until the article is published. Meanwhile, the artificial intelligence index must be less than 5%.
All new research submitted to the Iraqi Journal of Economic Sciences is checked using https://www.turnitin.com/ . Editorial board members may also choose to run the Crosscheck at any other stage during the review process or after publication. The default Crosscheck displays the percentage of manuscript text that overlaps with one or more published articles. Figures and equations cannot currently be checked. Please note that a high similarity score does not necessarily indicate plagiarism. A 30% similarity score may mean that 30% of the text shares a single source, or it may mean that 1% of the text shares a single source. Reused and properly cited text in the bibliography may also contribute to the similarity score. An editorial expert's knowledge of the subject matter is crucial for interpreting the Crosscheck and determining if there are any causes for concern.
Peer review policy
The Iraqi Journal of Economic Sciences employs a double-blind peer-review policy, which includes external reviewers. Authors are not required to suggest potential reviewers, nor are they required to exclude any individual from the reviewer list. The Iraqi Journal of Economic Sciences does not require a specific structure for review reports, but the following format is suggested:

If a reviewer feels they are not qualified to review a research paper, they are strongly advised to decline the invitation. The reviewer's report should include a comprehensive critique of the research, not just a few brief sentences. Peer-reviewed research must be strictly confidential. Reviewers should not share the research or discuss its content with anyone outside the peer-review process. If a reviewer decides to reject a research paper, they should state some reasons for the rejection, highlight its main shortcomings, and perhaps suggest relevant published works on the topic.

Archive policy
Digital archiving
The Iraqi Journal of Economic Sciences offers electronic backup and archiving of its content via the CLOCKSS archiving system . This system provides decentralized and distributed storage, seamless and permanent access, and preservation of the original, authentic content . Furthermore, all published articles are now available on the journal's page on the repository.

backup

The Iraqi Journal of Economic Sciences applies an additional backup policy to protect against data loss.
On-site backups: Full on-site server backups provide disaster recovery options to help protect against data loss or corruption. On-site backups are run daily by the host and are retained for 7 days by default. Backups are performed on the primary hosting server , Hetzner , and on the alternate hosting server, OVH .
Remote backup: The Journal of Management and Economics ( JAE ) provides 7-day backups of the OJS database and daily backups of the cPanel control panel for disaster recovery.

  
Advertising Policy
The Iraqi Journal of Economic Sciences does not include, accept, or rely on any commercially sponsored advertisements or publications.
The magazine also does not endorse any product or service advertised or promoted by a sponsor in its publications.
