Abstract

This research aims to study the role of the carbon tax in both Sweden and Norway by studying the reasons and motivations for imposing a carbon tax in these countries, based on the method of economic analysis. One of the most important conclusions reached by the research is that the carbon tax works to limit economic activities that cause environmental pollution. This is done by raising the cost of polluting activities and stimulating economic activities to introduce modern technology while carrying out their production activity. Therefore, the main recommendation was the possibility of implementing a carbon tax and benefiting from these revenues to reduce other taxes, thus achieving environmental sustainability at the lowest possible cost to the economy.
