Monetary policy depends on many means and operational goals to achieve its ultimate goals, such as price stability, employment, etc., and the latter may be the interest rate bank reserves or the use of the exchange rate as in Iraq. This research deals with the impact of the operational objective of monetary policy in Iraq, represented by the exchange rate, on the unemployment rate. The research adopts a hypothesis that there is a long-term non-linear relationship between the exchange rate and the unemployment rate in Iraq. The research aims to analyze and measure the relationship between the official exchange rate and the unemployment rate and the extent of the impact of a shock in the exchange rate on the unemployment rate in Iraq.
