Abstract

Iraq is about to experience the worst effects of the climate crisis, including rising temperatures and severe water shortages. Iraq's unstable internal governance prevents this country from improving water management, managing inter-provincial and inter-tribal conflicts, attracting investment and expertise to create new jobs compatible with the green economy. Public awareness of climate risks is increasing. But a small number of political leaders prioritize this issue. The main goal of this research is to explain the role of water shortage on the economy of Iraq. The current research is applied in terms of its purpose and survey methodology. The data collection tool in this research is a questionnaire. The statistical population of this research is made up of farmers in the suburbs of Baghdad. In order to select the sample members, a random sampling method was used. SPSS version 25 statistical software was used to check and analyze the data. The results show that the lack of water has a negative and significant impact on the economy, electricity supply and agriculture of Iraq.
