This research examines the economic and technical feasibility of a project to generate electricity from solid waste in Erbil. The energy produced will be approximately 50 megawatt-hours (MWh), with the aim of providing sustainable solutions that meet Erbil’s electricity needs and support the transition to an environmentally friendly circular economy. Through descriptive and quantitative analysis, the results demonstrate the economic and technical feasibility of the project, demonstrating a positive net present value (NPV), a good internal rate of return (IRR), and an appropriate payback period. The research recommends the establishment of a waste sorting policy and an effective information system for the quantity and composition of waste, as well as raising public awareness about waste sorting and waste reduction.
