Abstract

The last three decades have witnessed dangerous transformations in the ecosystem in Iraq, which were reflected in the rapid deterioration of its natural resources (water, agricultural lands, biological diversity, the atmosphere), which resulted in dangers that harm the life of the Iraqi individual on the one hand and the environment in which he lives on the other hand, and to address For these dangers and their negative effects, environmental education has emerged as a solution to the proposed environmental problems, as protecting and maintaining the environment is closely related to human awareness and environmental culture, and from this content environmental education plays a great role in creating a conscious generation that is interested in the environment and the problems associated with it, and it has one of the Knowledge, mental capabilities, and values ​​that help him to deal rationally and rationally with the environment, and allow him to exercise his role in solving existing environmental problems, and to prevent the emergence of new environmental problems. Environmental education works to link the relationship of human behaviors to the environment in which he lives, and this relationship has become a subject of interest to thinkers and researchers So many theories emerged, which explained the relationship, such as the determinist theory, the possibility theory, and the consensual theory, and that the emergence of these theories reflects the importance of the subject of environmental education and the place it occupies, as well as the importance of the subject, many countries, including Iraq, held a lot of conference Seminars and workshops, which calls for environmental in various institutions publish education, but in order to apply environmental education in Iraq should unite all the state's efforts and their educational institutions and non-educational, religious leaders and families to support and dissemination of environmental education among all members of society.
