The research highlights the role that the internal auditor plays in improving the performance of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with its updated version in 2015 for the Iraqi General Cement Company as one of the main requirements of the above-mentioned international standard as the first step in the right direction towards the application of Total Quality Management. Internal audit is the most important key ingredient for auditing and monitoring any financial and accounting system within any company, as it contributes to achieving a high level of control over the activities and activities of work within companies. The system of work within it, control of risk management processes, and supervision of the corporate control system. The research includes the internal audit manual and the procedures related to it (the audit and information plan, the examination and report lists).
