Measurement and analysis of the gas demand function for domestic purposes in the city of Erbil for the year 2022

Abstract

This study aims to measure and analyze the determinants of the demand for liquid gas for domestic purposes in the city of Erbil for the year 2022. The study relied on a questionnaire form to obtain data by taking a random sample of a number of families in the city of Erbil, about (145) families from different regions in it.

The study concluded that the majority of the families of the study sample used liquid gas for the purpose of cooking only, and that the majority of them used both government and commercial gas. It also concluded that the independent variables (income, number of bathrooms, number of kitchens, and area of the housing unit) each separately affect the dependent variable (demand for liquid gas). Finally, the study presents a number of proposals, the most important of which are: working on establishing liquid gas plants in partnership with foreign companies with the aim of transferring advanced technology to secure the requirements of the local markets of liquid gas, and increasing its production due to the increased demand for it due to the increase in population growth, as well as developing its production methods using new methods and methods. In addition to the initiative by the government and urging consumers to use solar energy to heat water and other purposes as an alternative to other energy sources.
