Abstract

Outdoor air pollution is one of the most important environmental risks that threaten our lives, because of its negative effects on human health as well as the deterioration of life on the planet. The importance of the study is highlighted by addressing the issue of increasing harmful emissions and their serious repercussions on the environment and the economy. The importance of the research is attributed to clarifying an important aspect of air pollution, namely carbon dioxide emissions that are produced through the consumption of gasoline and the extent to which procedures, laws and agreements contribute to reducing this pollution. The research was limited to three axes, as the first axis deals with the theoretical framework of environmental pollution and means of reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and the second axis deals with global concern in the environment, agendas and agreements, while the third axis deals with carbon dioxide emissions and costs resulting from gasoline consumption in Iraq. And that one of the most important conclusions reached by the research is that the greater the carbon dioxide emissions resulting from the consumption of gasoline, the higher the costs, and the lower those emissions, the lower the costs, and the most important recommendations came that fiscal policy should be used, especially when imposing a carbon tax and other transportation taxes to counter The high volume of environmental and economic damage due to the effects of these emissions.
