Abstract

Iraq represents a geographical bridge linking the continents of Asia and Europe and between the regions of the Arabian Gulf and the Levant. This means that Iraq is located at the heart of the Belt and Road project because it represents a crossroads of global transportation lines, in addition to being a neighbor to three parties in the Chinese initiative, namely Iran, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Therefore, the strategic location of Iraq is the main center of the Silk Road that China adopted, but that importance is conditional on the completion of the large port of Al-Faw, which is witnessing lagging progress, Despite the economic, political, social and other positive effects that Iraq may obtain due to its accession to the Silk Road, it will be matched by other proposed projects, including the railway linkage and the dry canal, or what was proposed recently under the title of the new development road, which is related to the transfer of goods and merchandise produced in neighboring countries to Asia and Europe, and thus Iraq achieves revenue The amount of 4 billion dollars annually with the employment of approximately one hundred and fifty thousand manpower, forgetting what might be achieved From the money generated from building factories and laboratories so that Iraq would be an industrial country instead of being a carrier of goods only as well as employing millions of unemployed people and not thousands of them if Iraq’s accession to the Silk Road was implemented, from here the research was divided into three axes, the first spoke about the belt project And the road (the Chinese Silk Road), while the second axis dealt with the newly proposed new development road, while the third axis dealt with the development road and the Silk Roads, two opposites or complementary
